Gino Gerosas

Gino Gerosa

Prof. Gino Gerosa is the Chief of the Cardiac Surgery Division and the Director of the Heart Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support Program at the Padova University Hospital. He performed the first worldwide stem cell transplantation for post-ischemic cardiomyopathy in 2002. He also performed the first Italian implantation of the Cardiowest TAH in 2007, and the first in man implantation of a complete mitral ring off pump in a beating heart.

Olaf Wendler

Olaf Wendler

Professor Wendler is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at King’s College Hospital and Chair of the Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institute of the newly build Cleveland Clinic London. He is internationally accredited for his special interest in heart valve disease and transcatheter aortic valve implantation. His specialties include arterial revascularization, heart valve repair, aortic root and thoracic aortic aneurysm repair and minimally invasive heart surgery.

Jose Pomar

Prof. Jose Luis Pomar is a Senior Consultant of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Hospital Clinic and Professor of Surgery at the University of Barcelona Medical School. He is also Director and conducts all scientific aspects of the Cardiovascular Tissue Bank at the same institution and one of the co-directors of the European Master of Valve Repair. His main areas of research include Mitral and Tricuspid Valve Repair, aortic surgery and minimally invasive cardiac surgery.

Prof. Mauro Rinaldi is currently the Director of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery of San Giovanni Battista Hospital Molinette, University of Turin as well as Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Turin.

Joseph Bavaria

Joseph Bavaria

Prof. Joseph Bavaria is the Vice Chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. He is also the director of the PENN Thoracic Aortic Surgery Program. Dr. Bavaria has done extensive research in Aortic Root and Valvular Heart Surgery, Thoracic Aortic Surgery and circulation Management for Aortic Arch Surgery.

Prof. Thierry Folliguet is Professor of cardiothoracic surgery practices at the University Hospital Brabois ILCV, France. Member of the French (SFCTCV), European (EACTS, ESCVS) and American (STS) communities of surgery, Professor Folliguet is specialized in Mitral valve repair, Robotic surgery, Atrial fibrillation and minimal invasive surgery.

Yoshiki Sawa

Yoshiki Sawa

Prof. Yoshiki Sawa is the Professor and Head of Department for Cardiovascular Surgery in Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine. He is also the President of the Japanese Association of Thoracic Surgery, the President of Japan Minimally Invasive Surgery, the President of Japan Transcatherter Valve Therapies, and the President of the Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine. His research work includes heart transplantation, artificial organs, gene and regenerative therapies.

Prof. Michael Borger is the Director of Cardiac Surgery at the Leipzig Heart Center and Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Leipzig. His main areas of research include aortic and mitral valve repair surgery, minimally invasive transcatheter and percutaneous valve procedures and Ischemic mitral regurgitation.

Since 2011, Dr. Demetrio Pittarello is anesthesiologist and threedimensional transesophageal echocardiography expert and allowed the minimally invasive intervention at the Gallucci Center, in the Institute of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery of the University of Padova.

Augusto D’Onofrio

Augusto D’Onofrio

Augusto D’Onofrio is Associate Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Padova. He is specialized in endovascular treatment and hybrid procedures of the thoracic aorta, the aortic surgery and the transcatheter aortic valve implantation.

Prof. Gunther Laufer is the Head of the Clinical Department of Cardiac Surgery and Deputy Medical Director at Vienna General Hospital. He is specialized in Minimally Invasive Aortic Valve Replacement via Anterolateral Thoracotomy.

Ruggero De Paulis

Ruggero De Paulis

Prof. Ruggero de Paulis is the director of the Cardiac Surgery Department of the European Hospital in Rome. Specialized in aortic and mitral repair surgery, he is reputed to be the designer of the “Valsava” graft, currently used in most aortic root surgeries.
